Bursaries to support NHS Knowledge and Library Services (KLS) in England to undertake postgraduate study on Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) accredited courses.

Details

We continue to be keen to develop knowledge and library service staff in order to fill band 5 posts as we know that recruiting to these can be a challenge.

The NHS Knowledge for Healthcare Learning Academy therefore offers another round of bursaries primarily to library assistants and paraprofessionals (at bands 2-4), in substantive roles within NHS Knowledge and Library Services in England to cover the costs of CILIP-accredited postgraduate study

We encourage applications for the masters rather than the postgraduate certificate (PGCert) or PG Diploma. This will improve employment prospects.

You will also be asked to select a dissertation on a health topic and share your learning with Health Education England (HEE) and network colleagues.

If successful, it is expected that you will commence study in September 2023 or January 2024 on a part-time or distance learning based in the United Kingdom or Ireland.

Bursary payments will be made via Education Contract payments to your employing Trusts. You should check with your managers that they are willing to handle the payments and communications with the chosen higher education institution (HEI).

Application process

Please complete the application form and return it to the Knowledge for Healthcare team via emailing [email protected] using the email header “Postgraduate Bursaries”

Deadline for applications is May 5 2023.

If we receive more applications than bursaries available, we will give priority to services where there have been vacancies in band 5 (or higher) roles or from traditionally difficult to recruit areas.
